Flatbread Feelings: When You Flatten Yourself to Be Loved

Jaisha Wallentine

The Flatbread

Dear Crumbheads,

You flattened yourself to keep the peace. Smiled too long. Said yes too easily. And now you're stretched thin—torn between being liked and being real. You're not made for one-sided softness. You're supposed to rise.

You don’t need to stay flat just because someone else won’t rise with you.

Stretch your edges without tearing. Let the dough resist.

I once shapeshifted into focaccia just to avoid a hard conversation. Spoiler alert: I got eaten anyway.

You can be soft and still say no.
